Contributors to the development of Early Childhood Education

There is a broad umbrella of organizations that support the Early Childhood Educational development but I will be zooming in on 2 Local Organizations and 2 International Organizations that are truely making their mark through their kind gestures. They are as follows; Local Organizations- 1. Barita Foundation- This entity is a charitable organization that aims at developing literacy and numeracy at the Early Childhood level in the most vulnerable communities of Jamaica. This is achieved through the development of two year programmes that incorporates teachers, parents and the integrated agendas in an effort to promote the educating and inspiring of our children in partnered institutions. 2. Kingston Restoration Foundation- The main objection of this entity is to develop a group of educated, disciplined and committed youths who will begin to build the foundation of regenerated down town communities. The three pioneers who contributed to the Development of Early Childhood Education in Jamaica as well as their contributions are as follows;

Rev Henry Ward- 1. He is the founder of this wonderful sector! He saw the great need for this sector and decided to fight to ensure this great need and vision for young children education became a reality. 2. He founded the first play center in Islington St Mary in 1938. Rev Dudley R.B.Grant- 1. This man was also very instrumental in the Early Childhood sector and played a major role in keeping it a float! He founded the Bernard Van Leer Foundation which is a major! Contributor to the Early Childhood Education Development in Jamaica. 2. He created the Teenage Mothers Project which major aim is to award teenage mothers who fell victims to teenage pregnancy and had to discontinue their education a chance to become better women of society. He through this foundation gave them a second chance at finishing their studies and also learning a lifelong skill that will make them more profitable in the future. Rev Majorie Prentice Saunders- 1.
